CASA's making a difference.
Advocate volunteers made it possible for 12 children to find safe, loving homes through adoption this May! After spending countless nights not knowing what their future would be, these children finally have stability, security and permanency.
Karen M. Johnson
Karen was sworn in as a CASA in May of 2009. Since that time she has been the CASA on 3 cases involving 5 children. Of these cases, one ended in adoption and another in reunification. Her most recent case is ongoing.
An infant was among the children of Karen’s first case. This infant had been in the same foster home since birth and Karen’s testimony at jury trial was instrumental in the “happy ending” adoption. Continuity of Karen’s relationship with the foster family and baby was key to the entire adoption process.
The current case for this now seasoned CASA is with 3 children currently in placement with the maternal grandmother in Altus, Oklahoma. Though quite a distance from Oklahoma County, Karen maintains contact and knows the best interest of each child from her interactions and presence. She travels to Altus once a month to visit the children and the family. This case is moving toward reunification with the birth parents.
Still wishing to be active and to continue to positively effect the lives of abused and neglected children, Karen is the Court Appointed Advocate on a new case involving a single child living here in Oklahoma County.
Karen is open to take on anything, is a take charge gal who is professional and gets the job done in the best interest of the children assigned her. She is absolutely dependable. Not only is she a Court Appointed Special Advocate, she also volunteers with other aspects of CASAofOKCo work and speaks on behalf of our organization. In her spare time she enjoys travel, is involved in her church and spends time with her beloved grandchildren.
We are thankful for Karen M. Johnson!
