About

Oklahoma CASA Association - 2010 Child Advocate of the Year - Kathy McCarty

"All children are quick to hope. Hope is what carries us all into tomorrow and new beginnings. Children in foster care are no different. These children, that the public knows only as faceless statistics, are part of the portrait of our future. They are courageous children, full of potential and the grace of endurance. They are waiting for a guiding hand and a forever family--they are waiting for us. With compassion and guidance, they can step out of the shadows of abuse and neglect and into the light of love, acceptance and accomplishment."   Kathy McCarty, CASA of Oklahoma County Child Advocate

Mission Statement

The mission of CASA of Oklahoma County is to provide trained court appointed volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused or neglected children in the juvenile court system.

Abused or neglected children are rescued from each zip code in our county.  To learn the number of cases from your zip code as of 11/2010, please view the zip code PDF in Literature.

We invite you to make a statement of support for these abused and neglected children by making a contribution on their behalf or by contacting us at 405.713.6456 to sign up to volunteer and become a CASA, Court Appointed Child Advocate.

As a non-profit agency we are dependent upon gifts from the general public to provide recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers who advocate for the best interest of abused children.  Our CASA provide the light, the hope for these children that they might find a home in which they can live and thrive.  Your gift does effect the life of a child.  Know more by listening to the CASA and the Judge featured here.

What We Do

We are the voices and witnesses for over 800 children who have been abused and neglected while living in Oklahoma County.  Children, now called foster children, who await the decision of the Juvenile Court to determine where and with whom they will live in order that they may thrive and live to the potential each child deserves.  We are Court Appointed Special Advocates. As a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit agency, we are funded by contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, grants and the County of Oklahoma County.   We are governed by a board of directors made up of citizens who reside in Oklahoma County. Since 1987, we have been the only CASA program appointed in Oklahoma County, Judicial District 7, the largest jurisdiction in the state.  CASA of Oklahoma County, Inc., serves the abused and neglected children of Oklahoma County through the support of our Associate District and Presiding Juvenile Judge Richard Kirby and our three Special Judges in accordance with Titles 10A O.S. § 1-4-306 and 10A O.S. § 1-8-102.
